dental fillings at tooth.
What are Dental Fillings (also known as white fillings/composite fillings)?
Dental Fillings seal a tooth safely and aesthetically after a Dentist has removed tooth decay or caries. After a filling, your tooth is protected and repaired and looks great too. At tooth in Waterloo, all of our Fillings are tooth-coloured (also known as white fillings) made from high quality composite materials. We can also replace amalgam fillings (also known as silver fillings).
Top 5 reasons for having dental fillings:
If you have tooth decay or a hole in your tooth, then chances are you need to have a filling – the Dentist will remove the decay and fill the decayed area with a filling. The filling will seal up any hole (cavity) that the decay has caused and protect the tooth from infection.
If you have old fillings they could fail at some point – this means that they are no longer protecting your tooth. This is often known as a leaking filling as the seal it created is compromised. But no need to worry, our experienced and caring Dentists can remove the old filling and replace with a new filling.
If you have chipped or broken a filling then our Dentists at tooth can help – we can repair or replace old fillings that have been compromised or risk failing through chipping or damage. We can also repair chipped teeth!
If you have amalgam fillings (silver fillings) you will be aware that they don’t look aesthetically strong. If you wish to replace your amalgam fillings (replace your silver fillings) then tooth can help – our Dentists can remove your old silver fillings and replace with fillings that match the colour of your teeth (white fillings).
Sometimes fillings can be used to cover exposed roots of a tooth. This can happen when your gum is receding and often a sign of an exposed route is sensitivity.
What types of Dental Fillings can I get at tooth?
At tooth we only offer white fillings (tooth-coloured fillings) using high quality composite material. We use Dentsply Sirona, one of the best available composites on the market. We do not offer amalgam/silver fillings.
How much are White Fillings at tooth?
The price of fillings will vary based on the size of the filling itself. This can relate to the amount of time needed to complete the filling, the amount of composite and other materials needed, and the number of surfaces needed to fill. As a result, we have three prices for fillings at tooth:
Small Filling £140
Medium Filling £200
Large Filling £235
Composite Build Ups/Composite Bonding is a different treatment and may cost more.
What should I expect if having a Dental Filling at tooth?
Depending on the reason, location and size of the filling your Dentist may numb the area using local anaesthetic (LA). They will then start treatment on the tooth, by removing the decay (if applicable) and preparing the area for the filling. Once prepared the filling itself will be applied gradually in layers until it is the right size and look. The colour will be matched to your tooth colour.
How long does a Dental Filling take?
A Dental Filling at tooth in London SE1 will vary depending on the size and complexity and the number of surfaces that are being filled. Typically, a Small Filling will take around 30 minutes, a Medium Filling around 40-50 minutes and a Large Filling around 50-70 minutes, but this can vary. Often, when necessary, our experienced Dentists will complete more than one filling at a time, so as to reduce the number of visits a patient needs to attend, which is always better for the patient.
As a result, the Dentist will advise on how long they need for your filling treatment(s).
Please note that you cannot book straight for a filling, unless it is an Emergency visit (for example you have lost or broken a filling and are in immediate pain or risk), so all patients will require a New Patient Check Up or regular check up first.
